2020 BDF Training Programs

Learn more about the 2020 Brighton Dance Festival intensive training programs, offered for experienced dancers ages 10 through adult.

Professional Program

Open to ages 16 through adult, this program offers an immersive experience with a focus on contemporary and modern dance. Other styles explored include jazz, ballet, hip hop, improvisation, partnering, and many more. All full time attending students will learn a repertory piece by one of our faculty, to be performed in the BDF Student Showcase at the end of the week.

Choreography Opportunities - Our Pro Program students are invited to create their own choreography during their time at BDF, or continue work on creative ideas started before arriving at the festival. Rehearsal space is available each evening after classes conclude. Student works are evaluated mid-week, and several pieces are invited to perform in the BDF Student Showcase to close out the festival. All genres of dance are encouraged.

Pro Program runs August 3-8, 2020

Classes: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, and Saturday 11am-4pm

Showcase: Saturday at 5pm.

Tuition Rates

Full time participation rates are $350 by May 1, $380 by July 20, and $425 after July 20.

Half time participation and drop-in classes are available. See our registration page for details.

Teen Program

Open to ages 12-16, this program gives teen students an in depth experience with contemporary and modern dance, taught by our professional faculty of educators and choreographers. Class styles are similar to our Pro Program (see above). In addition to learning a repertory piece by one of our faculty members, students in the Teen Program are also welcome to participate in any of our student choreographers' works for a chance to perform in more than one piece in our final showcase.

Open to ages 10-12, this program is a creative introduction into the professional dance festival world! Class styles in our Youth Program include modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, improvisation, hip hop, dance history and more. Students also learn a repertory piece to be performed in the BDF Student Showcase on the final day of the festival.

We love our Youth Program dancers so much that we specifically select professional faculty members who specialize in youth arts education!

New in 2020, we have added three additional hours of training and activities each day to the Youth Program for a more immersive experience.

Not sure which program to select?

We leave a little wiggle room in the age restrictions to allow for more advanced 12 and 16 year old dancers to move up to the next level, or for more intermediate dancers that age to stay down in the Youth and Teen programs. All other ages, we ask that you please adhere to our age divisions. After 10 years of program development at BDF, we are confident that you will receive an amazing experience in your program level. All classes are taught at an advanced level, and we ask that all attendees have a minimum of four years prior training.
