Brighton Dance Festival Canceled for 2020
Brighton, Michigan, May 21, 2020 - The Brighton Dance Festival organization announced today that all in-person festival classes, performances and community events will be canceled for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the large number of out-of-state attendees, and the uncertainty of future event restrictions, BDF feels it is in the best interest of its community of artists, students and patrons to avoid gathering in person.
"This is a heart breaking and difficult decision, but the health of my students and community is an absolute priority over running the festival," says BDF director Kathy King.
In the coming weeks, BDF will announce plans for a virtual experience to take place during the week of August 3-8, 2020. This will include a combination of live stream movement classes, online lectures and discussions with an international panel of artists, and performance streaming. All virtual experiences will be donation based.
Attendees who have already registered and paid for the 2020 BDF will be offered a full refund or the option to credit their tuition to next summer's festival.
Patrons can continue to support the future of Brighton Dance Festival by making a tax-deductible donation to their ongoing fundraising campaign. Click here to donate.
