So you're planning to attend the Brighton Dance Festival this summer? See what a day in the life of a BDF student looks like so you come prepared and ready for an inspiring experience!!
8:45am - Good morning! I'm strolling into the studio a little early so I can take a few minutes to roll around the floor and wake my body up before class begins. Bonus: There are lots of foam rollers and tennis balls around for us to use! Yes!
9:00am - First class of the day! Nothing better than starting the day with a great warm up!
10:30am - Break time! I love using these breaks between classes to grab a quick snack and chat with other students.
11:00am - Class time again! Bring on the sweat!
12:30pm - Time to grab my lunch and head into the break lounge for an inspiring luncheon with some of the faculty. Everyday we get to chat about a different topic - today it's how to stay inspired as an artist. I always keep a journal in my bag to keep notes on all of the great tips from my teachers and peers.
1:30pm - Back to class! I'm re-energized and ready to learn some more moves!
3:00pm - Another break between classes and I'm heading outside to soak in some sunshine! The campus is great because there are plenty of areas outside to relax between classes when the weather is nice.
3:30pm - Last class of the day! We often take some time at the end of class to relax into some recovery stretches, or sit in a circle and share our experiences from the day. It really feels like a dance family here and I've already made some new friends after just one day of dancing!
5:00pm - The day is over, but I'm excited to go grab dinner with a few of the other dancers I met today! We're all planning to come back in a few hours to listen to some live music and take part in the improv jam session tonight - Cool!!
7:30pm - Back at the studio and the musicians are getting ready to begin their jam session. The room is open for anyone to explore their own improvisational movement. So exciting!
10:00pm - Phew! I am exhausted, but feeling so full of inspiration! Can't wait to do it again tomorrow! Today was the only day for the improv jam, so I'm glad I stayed late and made the most of it. Time to head home, soak in an epsom salt bath, and get some rest for another day of dance tomorrow!
