Meet Mirela Amaral Dance Works - 2016 BDF Guest Artist

Mirela Amaral Dance Works will join us from New York City to present their work in the BDF Opening Night Concert, Sunday August 7th, 5pm, at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts. We are excited to welcome Mirela and company dancer Kaitlyn to the BDF family!

A little more about Mirela Amaral
Choreographer, Performer, Teacher, Cinematographer and Video Editor, whose interest is to develop choreography mediated by digital technology. Originally from Brazil, studied at the Toshie Kobayashi Ballet School in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mirela graduated from Talent Unlimited Performing Arts High School in New York City; which is affiliated with the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. Mirela joined Urban Ballet Theater performing The Nutcracker in the Lower directed by Daniel Catanach, and received scholarships to attend programs such as Jacob’s Pillow, Bates Festival, Ballet Hispanico, Carolyn Dorfman, Lar Lubovitch intensive and Bill T Jones Intensive. Mirela has performed works by Rebecca Stenn, Nicole M Corea, Vita Osojnik, as well as renowned choreographers including Bill T Jones, Larry Keigwin, David Parsons, Martha Graham, José Limón, and Paul Taylor. In 2013 Mirela graduated with a BFA in Dance from Montclair State University and joined Yoo and Dancers Dance Company in New York. Mirela has a MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and works towards navigating through possibilities of colliding the worlds of Digital technology and Contemporary Dance.
