Introducing 2016 Brighton Dance Festival Faculty member Katie Chartrand!
Dance educator and choreographer, Katie Chartrand, (a.k.a. Katie the Canadian!) will be joining the BDF faculty again this summer. We are so excited for our students to experience her passion and energy!
Check out this fun interview to learn a little more about Katie!
BDF: What are you working on these days professionally?
Katie: I recently moved from Windsor, Ontario to Vancouver, British Columbia to explore the dance scene here. I am always working on my own choreography projects, choreographing for companies, teaching classes, and most recently filming a dance concept video!
BDF: Who has been a source of inspiration for you recently, either in your personal or professional life?
K: My parents have been a huge inspiration to me lately. They are always offering me support and a clear mind when I need it most. I run all my dance ideas by them and I quite often brainstorm with my mom!
BDF: You're on a cross-country road trip and you can have 3 other passengers in the car. Who are they and where are you going?
K: hmmm...this is a tough one. OK. My friends Brittany, Sam and Mari . We are driving to Penticton and Banf. The BEAUTIFUL British Columbia has so much to offer!
BDF: If I'm taking your dance class, what can I expect to experience?
K: In my dance classes, expect to be challenged and pushed a little outside the box. Most importantly you WILL have fun. I try to create a positive and supportive atmosphere for you to rise and fall, the perfect recipe for improvement!
Thanks for the great interview Katie! We can't wait to laugh and dance with you this summer at BDF!
