Introducing 2016 Brighton Dance Festival Faculty member Megan Drabant!
Chicago-based Dance educator, choreographer and professional performer, Megan Drabant, will be joining the BDF faculty again this summer.
Check out this fun interview to learn a little more about Megan!
BDF: What are you working on these days professionally?
Megan: Currently I am working on taking more classes and auditioning for shows. I am not performing with anyone at the moment, but doing more freelance based work in the entertainment industry.
BDF: Who has been a source of inspiration for you recently, either in your personal or professional life?
M: After suffering from a recent concussion I have been doing a lot of research based on brain and mental health. It is fascinating learning how powerful the brain really is and how little we know about it. So personally, it isn't so much as one person who is a source of inspiration, but more so a subject of learning how the brain works and utilizing it to our maximum potential. Especially with my Pilates background and the concept of Mind/Body connection, I find this subject to be truly intriguing.
BDF: You're on a cross-country road trip and you can have 3 other passengers in the car. Who are they and where are you going?
M: Alright, for my passengers I'm picking my Mom (because who doesn't want to road trip with their mom?!), David Bowie, and Gene Kelly. We are all heading to Seattle to go exploring! That would be a fun car ride!
BDF: If I'm taking your dance class, what can I expect to experience?
M: Expect to sweat! My style is a fusion of many different types of dance. I enjoy big, athletic movements and fast paced floor work. I'm also driven by performance, so be prepared to bring your emotions into your movement. You will have fun and get a great workout at the same time!
Thanks for the great interview Megan! We can't wait to have some fun with you this summer at BDF!
