We asked Katie a few questions to get to know her better and here's what she had to say:
What has been your favorite dance gig during your career?
"My favourite dance gig during my career was performing in Larry Keigwin's residency piece at Wayne State University. It was great to be a part of such an amazing experience and be surrounded by so many inspiring people."
What inspires you most as an artist?
"What inspires me the most as an artist is pulling from raw, real life experiences and using the emotions as a vessel to create movement to express myself. Being able to tap into my emotions and experiences, good and bad, is what allows me to move from my soul, and that is something I am very thankful for."
When you're in the car, what's on the radio?
"I don't listen to the radio often but instead play homemade CDs with house music that is happy and upbeat."
If you could have lunch with any choreographer, past or present, who would it be?
"I would have lunch with the very inspiring Mia Michaels, although Stacy Tookey is a close second."
What's in your dance bag?
"A hat, plaid shirt, high tops, body spray, iPod, iPad, water bottle."
What has been a favorite BDF moment?
"Favourite BDF moment was teaching the juniors my hip hop piece because they always know how to KILL IT!"
