In 2011 when Brighton Dance Festival began expanding and offering more training programs, we also started the BDF Internship Program. The program hires dancers age 18+ and offers free full-time tuition. Interns receive behind-the-scenes experience in a festival setting, helping with the day to day activities, while also participating in classes and the Student Showcase. The connections they have made with each other and their peers have lasted through the years. Here are a few testimonials about the internship experience...

"As a college dance student, it can be a challenge tocontinue training outside of the academic year without sufficient funding. Brighton Dance Festival gave me a tremendous opportunity to take class for free, make connections with professionals and see what happens "behind the scenes" of the whole operation! I would recommend the internship to any dancer pursuing a professional career in performance, management, or dance administration because the program is the perfect mix of all three." - Bree M.

"It gave me a sense of community being able to work so closely with these other interns as we cleaned studios and prepared for the performances. I loved every minute of it and would do it again in a heart beat. Being an intern allowed me to make friendships with the other interns that I still have today and I'm so grateful for it!" - Jessica C.

"Last year at BDF I fell in love with the open atmosphere the festival created. Whether student or teacher, everyone there was passionateand ready to be inspired. As an intern, I experienced the best of both worlds. I was able to see the amount of work it took to put on the festival and the amount of work that each student is demanded of in classes. Most importantly, though, I learned that BDF is not just a festival, it is a community. I met so many wonderful people and those ties have continued today. I would not want to spend those five days in August any other way." - Tessa B.
